Ron Burt

 

A native of Newfane, N.Y., Ron received his Associates Degree in Communications at Niagara County Community College. An avid college athlete, he played baseball and golf and was a commentator on a local sports radio show. After moving to Pensacola, Fla. in 1992, he obtained a Bachelors Degree in Sports Management from the University of West Florida (UWF.)

 

Ron started coaching volleyball in the Catholic Youth Sports League for St. Michael Interparochial School in Pensacola, Fla. in 1997 where he spent 5 years as the head of their middle school program. He began coaching junior girls' club volleyball in 1998 as a part of SideOut Volleyball Club (SOVC.) His teams participated in local and regional tournaments in the Gulf Coast area while also traveling outside the region to Panama City, Fla. and New Orleans, La. SOVC hosted its annual Survivor Tournament which attracted teams from the local region as well as Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Florida.

 

Ron transitioned from coach to add Club Director duties in 2000 and held the position until 2005. He is USA Volleyball IMPACT and CAP 1 certified.

 

Ron was at the helm of the West Florida High School Jaguar Volleyball program for three seasons and prided himself on restructuring the program and paving a road of success. 

 

Ron and his wife Sue have three children. His son Kevin serves in the United States Coast Guard. Both of Ron's daughters played volleyball from middle school throughout college at the NCAA Division II level. His oldest daughter Sarah was a setter for the Queens University of Charlotte Royals Volleyball program in Charlotte, N.C. and his youngest daughter Colleen played for Stonehill College in Easton, Mass. as a setter/defensive specialist.
