PHILADELPHIA, Miss. - The Talladega College golf team competed in the Jackson State Frito Lay/Taco Bell Intercollegiate golf tournament this past weekend and the squad finished in 13th place. The event was held at Dancing Rabbit Golf Course (par-72) and spanned 7,128 yards.
Talladega College was led by Senior Eric Davis who finished in a tie for 55th with a score of (87-82) 169. He was followed by Senior Jameel Martin tied for 68th with a score of (86-89) 175, Senior Willie Brown tied for 70th with (90-93) 183. Freshman Daniel Kirby rounded out the Tornado golfers with a tie for 72nd and a score of (97-92) 189.
McNeese State University won the event with a two-round total of 604. MSU's effort was closely followed by Georgia Southwestern State University (606), Savannah State University (609) and Jackson State University (610). The University of Tennessee at Martin finished in fifth with a score of 613.
J.P. Griffin (Ga. Southwestern) and Brendon Caballero (UT-Martin) won individual medalist honors as the pair each shot a 147.
